Introduction

Web radio streaming is a method of broadcasting audio content over the internet, allowing users to listen to live or pre-recorded audio streams through various devices. This capability is widely used for internet radio stations and offers listeners the flexibility to enjoy their favorite programs anytime and anywhere, as long as they have an internet connection.

Support

The support for web radio streaming was introduced in DSOS 4.7.0. With the integration of this feature, users can stream audio content in real-time.

This feature supports streaming using the following protocols:

  • HTTP/ICY: A simple streaming protocol used mainly for internet radio. It allows users to listen to audio streams with minimal delay.
  • HLS (HTTP Live Streaming): A streaming protocol developed by Apple that delivers content in small chunks. It adapts the quality of the stream based on the user's network conditions, ensuring smooth playback.
  • DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP): An adaptive bitrate streaming protocol that provides high-quality video and audio streaming by adjusting the stream in real-time based on the user's bandwidth.
Note Note:
Some limitations may apply based on the specific audio stream configurations. Users should ensure that the streams they intend to use are compatible with the supported protocols.
