The HMP400W and iBX410W player models have a built-in wireless network interface controller (WNIC) and can connect to Wi-Fi networks operating in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Some third-party DSOS players may also be Wi-Fi enabled.
Below, you can find more details about how to do the initial Wi-Fi setup by connecting to the player's built-in Wi-Fi access point from a smartphone or computer, and configure the Wi-Fi network details. If the player is connected to a wired network, then you can also set up the Wi-Fi details from Control Center.
The following authentication methods are supported for wireless networks:
Install the player's Wi-Fi antennas, if necessary.
Connect the player to a display (using HDMI or DisplayPort cable).
Connect the player to the power supply and wait for the player to boot up.
At this point, an unconfigured player will automatically turn on its built-in Wi-Fi access point.
For a player that is not connected to the wired network, the splash screen shows the wireless network name and password, for instance: • • •
Notes:
The Wi-Fi network of the player is named with the player model (i.e., HMP400 or DSOS) and its serial number.
The wireless LED on the HMP400W should be blinking yellow indicating that the player accepts a Wi-Fi configuration.
If the player is connected to the wired network, then you can get the information above by briefly pressing its power/blue button, and then use the network configurator tool to set up the Wi-Fi network details.
Configuration
Next, you need to connect to the player access point and configure its access to your local wireless network, following the steps detailed below, according to the type of device you are using.
From computer
Turn on the WIFI on your laptop, tablet, etc.
Open the list of wireless networks in range and select the one of the player.
Click the "Connect" button.
Under the network security key, enter the password displayed on the screen (including the dashes!).
Click "Next" and wait for the Wi-Fi configuration page to be automatically opened in your browser.
Enter your local wireless network details (SSID, username, password, etc.) in there.
If needed, you can configure a static IPv4 address.
Click the "Apply" button and wait for the player to reboot.
Note:
After this, the computer will disconnect from the player's access point and connect back to your Wi-Fi, and after a short delay, the browser page will redirect you to the SpinetiX ARYA site where you can add the player into your account.
From smartphone
Smartphone view
Turn on the phone camera and scan the QR code.
Click on the popup that appears and then click the "Join" button.
Go to your device settings, Wi-Fi section.
A "Log In" page is displayed.
In case that doesn't happen, type http://dsos.link in your mobile's browser.
Enter your local wireless network details (SSID, username, password, etc.) in there.
If needed, you can configure a static IPv4 address.
Click the "Apply" button and wait for the player to reboot.
Final steps
Upon restart, the screen will display something like this:
• • •
Note:
The wireless LED on the HMP400W should be solid green indicating that the player is configured for Wi-Fi and connected to the local wireless network.
See the #Troubleshooting section below, for the case when the player is configured to use Wi-Fi, but the preset wireless network is no longer available.
A list of Wi-Fi networks is shown with signal quality and connection status.
Click the "Reconfigure" button.
Select your local wireless network name (SSID) and the authentication credentials (required, unless it's a public network, without any authentication).
If the Wi-Fi network doesn't appear in the list, select "Other..." and manually enter its SSID.
Set the IPv4 address to automatic (DHCP) or to manual (if you need to configure a static IPv4 address).
Click the "Apply" button and wait for the player to reboot.
Add more Wi-Fi networks
Adding multiple Wi-Fi networks from the same location is not recommended, as the player might lock onto one that doesn't have a strong signal. There are, however, cases when this might be needed, for instance, when you want to configure a wireless network that is not currently in range, like one at a different location or a mobile hotspot (useful for troubleshooting). For that, follow these steps:
Use the network configurator tool to configure each new wireless network - make sure to enable each time the option to keep previously configured Wi-Fi networks. A configuration file is generated for each wireless network.
The XX:XXXX notation above must be replaced with the last six digits of the MAC address of the network interface – e.g., for the player with S.N. 001d5022025e (X2462LY3), that is http://[fe80::21d:50ff:fe22:025e]/user/login?noredirect.
The /user/login?noredirect part avoids getting redirected to ARYA if the player is managed by ARYA, and is optional otherwise.
