Display and audio settings

 

Applies to all DSOS players. See this page for legacy players.

Description

The "Display & Audio" page of Control Center allows configuring display and audio related settings, grouped under the following sections:

• Display
• Audio
• Power
• Other

These sections are further detailed below.

Display

This section groups several options related to the configuration of the players' video output signal mode.

Simple configuration

The options included in this section are:

• Configuration type

  Select the configuration type between "Simple", "Advanced", and "Custom".

  This option is not available on HMP300 and DiVA players.

• Display settings

  Select the video output signal mode from a fixed number of common video modes, divided in three categories:

  • TV Screen (16:9): 720p @ 50/60Hz, 1080p @ 50/60Hz, 4K UHD 50/60Hz (only on HMP400, HMP400W, iBX410, iBX410W and iBX440).
  • Computer Monitor (4:3): VGA 640x480, XGA 1024x768, SXGA+ 1400x1050.
  • Wide Computer Monitor (16:10): WXGA 1280x800, WSXGA+ 1680x1050.

• Screen orientation

  Allows rotating or flipping the HMP video output signal to match the screen orientation, by selecting one of the following values: "Horizontal" (default value), "Vertical (CW)", "Vertical (CCW)", "Rotate 180", "Flip Vertical", "Flip Horizontal".

• Video Output Selector

  Select between "HDMI" and "DisplayPort Alt Mode" output for HMP400 and HMP400W.

Advanced configuration

 

Does not apply to HMP300. Requires a DSOS SYSTEMS license.

Upon selecting the "Advanced" configuration type, the "Display settings" option is replaced by "Custom video mode" option, and "HDMI display supports underscan" option is added. The "Screen aspect ratio" and "Screen orientation" options are the same as above.

• Custom video mode

  Allows selecting the HMP video output signal mode as resolution@refresh_rate from the "standard video modes" provided by the HMP.

• HDMI display supports underscan

  This option enables / disables the underscan feature for HDMI connection. The HMP supports underscan for HDMI connection, meaning that all pixels of the image are displayed by the screen, which is standard behavior for computer monitors as opposed to consumer televisions. This feature does not affect connections using DVI.

Custom configuration

 

Does not apply to HMP300. Requires a DSOS SYSTEMS license.

The custom configuration is similar to the advanced configuration, the only difference being that the "Custom video mode" option allows setting custom resolutions for non-standard screens, either as a CVT Mode or as a Fixed Mode.

Audio

The following audio output options are available on HMP400/HMP400W, iBX410/iBX410W and iBX440:

• Enable audio output

  Activate or deactivate the audio output signal.

• Enable Surround

  Activate or deactivate the audio surround (5.1 and 7.1). Added in firmware 4.7.0.

• Target audio output

  When the audio is enabled, select between

  • HDMI → output audio+video over HDMI connection
  • DisplayPort Alt Mode → output audio+video over Display Port connection (dedicated USB-C port)
  • Other audio adapters/devices capable of digital-to-analog conversion, if present, connected to any of the USB-C ports
  • Built-in Audio Analog Output → output analog audio over the dedicated USB-C port, using the audio adapter cable provided by SpinetiX

• Volume

  Enter a number between 1 and 100 (default value) to control the output volume of the audio device . Added in firmware 4.7.2.

• Disable audio when screen is turned off

  Select this to save the CPU resources used by the audio decoding and audio output.

The following audio output options are available on HMP350, HMP300, and DiVA players:

• Enable audio output

  Activate or deactivate the audio output signal.

• Target audio output

  When the audio is enabled, select between "HDMI" and "Line out"

• Disable audio when screen is turned off

  Select this to save the CPU resources used by the audio decoding and audio output.

Power

From this section, you can manage the display power saving, through HDMI-CEC and / or RS-232. If the selected video output does not support CEC, display power management may not be fully supported.

• Enable display power management

  Click to toggle the display power management through HDMI-CEC.

  When enabled, the player will automatically turn on the screen when running, unless instructed otherwise through a fixed or custom display power saving schedule.

• Schedule (added in firmware 4.6.1)

  Select a predefined schedule for display power saving from:

  • "None"
  • "Fixed" (previously "Use fixed schedule for display power") → enter the time of the day when the player shall turn on / off the monitor.
  • "Daily" → enter the time when the player shall turn on / off the monitor per the week day.

Notes:

• If you need a more complex schedule for display power saving, see how to set up a custom display power saving schedule.
• RS-232 power saving commands are entered from Peripherals > Automation page.

Other

The following options are available:

• Overscan percentage

  Set the "Overscan percentage" value between 0 and 5. This allows choosing the size (in percentages) of the black frame added by the HMP to compensate for the overscan of the HDMI-connected screen. This cropping is also known as underscan, and it has an effect only when "HDMI display supports underscan" option is disabled.

• HDMI link type

  Can be used to force the HDMI link to use HDMI or DVI signal, in case the automatic detection do not work.

  This option is available only on HMP350, HMP300, and DiVA players.
