Content delegation in federated governance
Overview

Delegation is the assignment of any responsibility or authority to another person to carry out specific activities. In the digital signage context, content delegation means separating design and copywriting tasks, so that non-IT personnel can input content into an approved design template and management / publisher can approve its publication.
In large companies adopting a federated governance in regards to the content management, the communication team from the company headquarters would create and schedule the global communication, yet most often, the local branches would need to have their own local content included as well. So, the content manager will look to delegate the responsibility to manage the content for specific screens to another person. Empowering the subordinate to make decisions in regards to content displayed on a local branch can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people.
Depending on the digital signage deployment model, content delegation can be implemented either at platform level or at player level.
Implementation with SpinetiX ARYA Enterprise

In a cloud-based deployment, content delegation can be implemented with SpinetiX ARYA™. The Enterprise subscription plan includes unlimited users with permission management and supports content, player, and user tags. This allows the signage network to be organized into logical groups, for example by site, region, brand, or department. A central team can then manage shared communication and common assets, while local teams work only with the content and players that belong to their area of responsibility.
Compared with the implementation based on the player web interface, this approach moves the delegation model from the individual player level to the central management platform. This is especially relevant for larger organizations that need a more structured governance model across multiple users and multiple locations.
Integration with Elementi
ARYA Enterprise includes advanced content integrations with Elementi software (subject to the required Feature Set conditions), so it can also support workflows where content is produced externally and managed centrally before, being deployed through the cloud environment.

Implementation with player web interface and Elementi

Content delegation can be implemented by combining local content (created with the Content creation tool) with external content (created with Elementi), and scheduling them for display from the built-in Content scheduling tool.
Taking the example above, the two actors, HQ content manager and branch content manager, would collaborate as following:
The HQ content manager uses Elementi M/X to:
- Create a new Elementi project dedicated to global communication of the company.
- Configure a new Publish Location pointing to an internal content server.
- Publish the project on the server though the Publish Location created above.
The branch content manager uses the player's built-in web interface to:
- Configure the local players to retrieve the "global content" project from the content server using Scheduled Download.
- Create content, such as Playouts and Playlists, for local branch communication needs.
- Schedule the "global content" as default content and the local content at different time slots. Or vice versa depending on the requirements.
This way, the local branch players would display a mix of globally-distributed content and locally-created content.
