Instant Messaging service

The Instant Messaging service has been deprecated and it will no longer be maintained.

The installation of HMD comes by default with the Instant Messaging (IM) service. This service let you use your PC as a server for shared variables. This application is useful if you want the same data to be shared by many HMPs.

Notes:

• The Start and Stop shortcuts for the SPXims service must be run as administrator.
• In order to use the IM service to watch a given folder on your host PC and to use any file inside that folder as a shared variable (see pages 16-17 from the technical documentation), the registry key stated in the documentation (e.g. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SpinetiXims\Parameters) needs to be manually added into registry. Once you have this key, add the "Port" and "WatchDir" values.
  • Do not confuse the above key with the already existing SPXims key.
