Feature Maturity Status

From SpinetiX Wiki

Overview

SpinetiX introduces new capabilities incrementally to allow customers to evaluate emerging functionality, provide feedback, and help validate real-world use cases.

To help customers understand the readiness of a feature, SpinetiX classifies new capabilities according to the following maturity levels: Technology Preview → Field Validation → Fully Supported.

Technology Preview

Technology Preview features provide early access to functionality that is still under active development. These features are intended for evaluation and testing and may not yet be functionally complete. Technology Preview features are not covered by standard SpinetiX support commitments and may be significantly modified, replaced, or removed in future releases.

Because these features are still evolving:

  • Stability, performance, and interoperability may be limited.
  • Future releases may introduce non-backward-compatible changes.
  • Upgrade paths may not always be seamless.
  • Some features may never progress beyond the Technology Preview stage.

Customers are encouraged to evaluate Technology Preview features in non-critical environments and provide feedback to SpinetiX.

Field Validation

Field Validation features have completed extensive internal verification and have demonstrated successful operation in customer deployments. These features are considered sufficiently mature for broader adoption but are still accumulating operational experience across a wider range of deployment scenarios, environments, and use cases. While SpinetiX expects these features to perform reliably, additional findings may emerge as adoption grows.

Characteristics of Field Validation features include:

  • Extensive internal testing has been completed.
  • No major known blocking issues exist.
  • Successful operation has been demonstrated in customer deployments.
  • Ongoing field experience is being gathered and evaluated.
  • Design, behaviour, or implementation details may still evolve based on operational feedback.

Field Validation features may be suitable for production deployments where customers have assessed the associated risks and confirmed that the feature meets their requirements.

Fully Supported

Fully Supported features are covered by standard SpinetiX support commitments and are recommended for production use. These features have undergone extensive validation through both internal testing and broad customer adoption, providing a high degree of confidence in their stability, interoperability, and long-term maintainability.

Advancement Between Levels

Progression between maturity levels is based on a combination of technical validation, operational experience, customer feedback, and long-term maintainability considerations. Advancement to a higher maturity level does not imply the absence of all limitations. Rather, it reflects increasing confidence in a feature's suitability for deployment across a broad range of customer environments.

SpinetiX reserves the right to modify, postpone, or discontinue features at any maturity level based on technical, business, or market considerations.
